Plan Your Ladakh Group Expedition Without the Chaos

Pangong Lake sunrises, Nubra Valley dunes, and Khardung La passes — coordinate your entire Ladakh road trip as a group with ROILLS.

Ladakh demands tight coordination

High altitude, limited connectivity, and remote checkpoints make Ladakh one of India's most complex group trips to plan.

  • Inner Line Permits (ILP) require advance group coordination
  • Shared cab costs across multiple days need transparent tracking
  • Routes change due to road conditions — everyone needs live updates

One shared plan for your Ladakh convoy

ROILLS keeps all trip details, fuel splits, accommodation choices, and activity slots in one shared space for your group.

  • Day-wise route planning from Leh to Nubra to Pangong
  • Vehicle expense split for shared taxis and fuel
  • Offline-friendly planning so you can prepare before connectivity drops

Document your Ladakh memories as a team

After the journey, create a shared memory book with photos, captions, and trip highlights from every member.

  • Group photo journal with timestamps
  • Per-person trip cost summary at the end
  • Shareable trip recap for social sharing

Best time to visit Ladakh

Ladakh is best visited from late May to September, when the high mountain roads are open. July and August are the warmest and busiest. June and September are quieter, with clear skies and fewer crowds.

Roads from Manali and Srinagar close for winter, and many camps and hotels shut down. Winter trips are possible but are a specialist undertaking, with extreme cold and limited services.

Altitude, permits and safety

Leh sits at around 3,500 metres. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, however fit, so spend the first one or two days resting and drinking water before going higher. Do not plan Pangong or Nubra on day one.

Some areas, including parts of Nubra and Pangong, need permits for visitors, and the rules and process can change. Check the current requirements through the official Ladakh administration before you travel, and keep copies of your ID. Carry cash, because ATMs and mobile networks can be unreliable outside Leh.

A sample 6-day Ladakh group plan

Days 1 and 2: arrive in Leh, acclimatise, and see Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and the local market. Day 3: Sham Valley or Magnetic Hill and Hemis monastery for a gentle first outing.

Days 4 and 5: Nubra Valley over Khardung La, with a night near Hunder, then Pangong Lake by road for sunrise. Day 6: return to Leh and depart. Road trips from Manali or Srinagar need extra days and good vehicles, so plan them as a separate adventure.

Sharing a big shared-cost trip fairly

Ladakh costs are lumpy: a vehicle for several days, fuel, camps and permits. Add these to ROILLS as they are paid so each person sees their share, and keep a shared budget for the vehicle and permits separate from personal spending.

Use the shared itinerary for the acclimatisation days and emergency contacts, so the whole group knows the plan if network drops.

Frequently asked questions

Can I plan a Ladakh road trip with ROILLS?

Yes. ROILLS supports full route-based trip planning including multi-day itineraries across Leh, Nubra Valley, and Pangong.

How do we split shared taxi and hotel costs for Ladakh?

Add each shared expense as you go and ROILLS tracks who paid and calculates fair splits in real time.

Does ROILLS work when there's limited internet in Ladakh?

You can plan and sync the trip before departure. Once offline, notes and itineraries remain accessible from the cached trip view.

Is ROILLS good for bike trips to Leh?

Yes. ROILLS works for bike convoys and road trips — track fuel costs, accommodation splits, and route changes as a group.

Can a group go to Ladakh without prior booking?

It is possible, but in peak season rooms and vehicles sell out, so book at least the stays in Leh and your transport in advance.

Is Ladakh safe for first-time mountain travellers?

Yes with preparation. Acclimatise properly, avoid alcohol on arrival days, carry basic medicines and follow local guidance. If anyone develops severe symptoms, descend and seek medical help.
